cause the last time you saw meis still burned in the back of your mind------------------------------ you gave me roses and i left them there to die
It had actually been a pretty good day for Ally Norman, if you ignore the swollen feet, constant need to pee, and half an hour trying to find clothes that still fit and didn’t make her look too pregnant. Ever since she had told Trystan about the pregnancy she had become a lot more positive around it, and was getting ready to tell the rest of her friends and family, but she was still rather self-conscious of her stomach until she did tell anyone. Her weight gain is why she had decided to take the day off from work in order to go off and find clothes that she’ll be able to fit into- finally.
And the shopping had actually been going well, better than she had expected. Ally had been pretty nervous about buying proper, real, actual maternity wear- she was very young and looked younger than she was, so she had been worried that people would judge her or glare or... something! But they didn’t, everyone had been so lovely and she had really nothing to worry about everything had been fine- if you ignore the fact that everyone had been rubbing her stomach. Seriously, what was with that? Yes; she was pregnant, no; that didn’t mean you have a right to invade her bubble!
But, apart from that, it had been a very pleasant day, and she was just on her way to have a cup of coffee and maybe treat herself to a slice of lemon cake yes, the baby wants lemon cake she justified heading toward her favourite little coffee shop when she froze. To the left of her, was a small baby boutique, featuring the most adorable (yet terrifying) window display she’d ever seen. A tentative step forward Followed by another. And another. Blue eyes never leaving the teeny tiny jeans, and the tiny little coats and dungarees and the shoes. The tiniest shoes ever! How could a humans feet fit into something so tiny?!
Ally glanced down at her shopping bags, she needed to get things for the baby. She hadn’t even thought... A Crib, a car seat, a pram, clothes, nappies... She needed to sort out a nursery, and sort something out at the bookstore so that she could bring the baby to work after a short maternity leave. How was she going to do this by herself? Somehow Ally found herself inside the small boutique feeling completely overwhelmed, she’d bought a few books from the bookshop the day before, but hadn’t had time to go through them any more than a quick skim. She had no idea what was appropriate for a new born or what wasn’t, how big the clothes were that she’d have to take to the hospital- the birth! Oh god, she hadn’t even thought about that! The colour drained from her face as she stared straight ahead at the tiny baby grows and mittens, she couldn’t do this, oh god she couldn’t do this!
”Miss, can I help you?” came the overly cheerful voice of one of the employees, who walked over to the frozen blonde. The sound of a voice snapped Ally out of her trance and she looked over at the older woman with wide eyes shaking her head, “N-no... I’m fine,” she answered, her voice shaky, “thanks.” Eventually, her legs began to work again and the small blonde found herself walking over to the clothes, her vision blurring as she picked up a small white baby grow, with an intricate sleeping teddy bear sewn onto the chest, a single tear falling down her pale cheek.

TUCKER OFTEN ROAMED AROUND THE MALL AFTER HIS DAY SHIFTS. THE DAY SHIFTS WERE SOMETHING HE REALLY HATED; HE COULD ONLY GET CALLED INTO A BAR TO BREAK UP A BAR FIGHT AT NIGHT, AND HE COULD ONLY GET HIMSELF INTO A DIFFERENT FIGHT WHILE AT THE BAR AT NIGHT. IT WAS REALLY PRETTY ANNOYING, HOW AFTER HE ONLY GOT INTO A FEW FIGHTS, TUCKER'S BOSS DECIDED TO PUT HIM ON DAY SHIFT. OF COURSE, THAT LAST ONE HAD BEEN PRETTY BAD, COULD HAVE LOST HIM HIS JOB, AND HE WASN'T ABOUT TO GO TO COLLEGE TO GET A DEGREE NOW. IT WOULD HAVE BEEN REALLY TERRIBLE, HAD HE LOST HIS JOB, SINCE HE HAD TO PAY RENT AND ALL THAT. AND HE HAD BEEN LUCKY TO EVEN GET THE JOB THAT HE HAD NOW, BEING A COP. NO OTHER CHIEF IN THEIR RIGHT MIND WOULD HAVE HIRED A FORMER DRUG ADDICT, ONE JUST RECENTLY DISCHARGED FROM REHAB. THE CHIEF HAD ALREADY GOTTEN A TON OF SHIT FOR PUTTING HIM ON THE STREET TO PROTECT PEOPLE, MAKE SURE THAT NO ONE GOT HURT. THIS TUCKER COULD UNDERSTAND.
TUCKER STALKED AROUND THE MALL, JACKET THAT TOLD EVERYONE THAT HE WAS A COP, AND JEANS THAT HE HAD PACKED IN HIS CRUISER'S TRUNK SO HE COULD CHANGE OUT OF THE UNIFORM AFTER HIS SHIFT WAS OVER. HE HAD BEEN LOOKING AROUND FOR EXPENSIVE GIFTS FOR PARKER FOR WEEKS, FIGURING THAT MAYBE IF HE BOUGHT HER ENOUGH PRESENTS, SHE WOULD QUIT HER CONSTANT PARTYING AND DRINKING. LIKE A BRIBE, SORT OF. DEEP INSIDE HE KNEW THAT IT WOULD NEVER WORK, BUT IT WAS WORTH A TRY. TUCKER HAD JUST MOVED INTO THE HOUSE TO KEEP AN EYE ON HER, AND THEIR PARENTS WOULD BE EVEN MORE DISAPPOINTED IN HIM THAN THEY WERE ALREADY IF THEY HEARD THAT GOT ARRESTED OR IN A CAR CRASH OR DIED BECAUSE HE COULDN'T CONTROL HER -- THAT WOULD BE A FEAT, THOUGH, SHE WAS AWFULLY MEAN AND THEREFORE AN AWFULLY LARGE HANDFULL.
TUCKER APPROACHED A GIRL, WHO LOOKED BEYOND DISTRESSED, STANDING OUTSIDE OF THE SHOP FOR BABIES. HE HAD A THING FOR GETTING HIMSELF INTO SITUATIONS LIKE THAT; IT MAY HAVE BEEN THE COP IN HIM. HE LIKED TO MAKE THINGS BETTER, ALTHOUGH HE WASN'T REALLY THAT GOOD AT IT. HE KNEW THAT HE PROBABLY SHOULDN'T HAVE ASKED A STRANGER IF THERE WAS ANYTHING WRONG, BUT HE WOULD ANYWAY. THAT WAS HOW TUCKER WAS, CONCERNED ABOUT EVERYONE EVEN WHEN HE WAS ANGRY. "HEY." HE GREETED, COMING UP NEXT TO HER AT THE CLOTHES RACK, "ARE YOU OKAY, MISS?" TUCKER HAD BEEN TRAINED TO CALL WOMEN MA'AM, BUT SHE DIDN'T LOOK LIKE ONE. "YOU LOOK...DISTRESSED."

cause the last time you saw meis still burned in the back of your mind------------------------------ you gave me roses and i left them there to die
Out of the corner of her eye, Ally noticed the tall (everyone was tall to her at her small 5’2”) stranger coming in her direction but scarcely paid attention to him, her mind too wrapped up in the panic she was feeling her gaze not leaving the tiny clothing in her hands. She felt like she was going to throw up, or pass out. Or both! It wasn’t until he stopped next to her and greeted her asking if she was... okay? Okay? No she wasn’t okay, she was freaking out! In the middle of the mall, on her own! She was definitely okay. Finally turning to look at the man her grip on the baby grow tightening.
“I... I don’t think I can do this.” She told the stranger blinking quickly, her voice little more than a whisper, “seriously, I killed my goldfish- literally. I took him out of his tank and put him on the kitchen table surrounded by food,” it was a true story, granted she was about four at the time, but still! “How am I supposed to take care of a tiny, tiny human being when I kill goldfish!” She asked him shaking the clothes at him, “it’s a wonder Derek is still alive really, I mean I’m barely able to look after myself, and then there’s money, babies are expensive, have you seen the prices of half the stuff in here?!” She was speaking so fast part of her doubted that he could understand a word she was saying.
Sighing, Ally seemed to almost deflate as she placed the baby grow back on the rack, “I’d been so positive,” she confessed, “I mean sure, it was a... shock but, I was just getting my head around the idea of having a baby but now.” A pause as she took a breath, “how am I supposed to look after something so tiny? What if something goes wrong?” Blue eyes moved up to look at the stranger before widening as she realised for the first time, he was actually a stranger. Some random guy off the street who she just spilled her guts too. Well, a cop judging by the jacket, that wasn’t the point. Crap!
“Oh, god, I’m sorry,” she gasped wiping furiously at her face trying to remove all evidence of the few tears that had escaped her hold- she blamed hormones. Ally was usually good at keeping track of her emotions, at least in public, “you must think I’m some sort of crazy person, I’m not... Most of the time, I’m just...” taking a deep breath, “freaking out!”

TUCKER'S FACE BECAME A MASK OF SURPRISE ONCE THE BLOND WENT OFF ON HER CONCERNED RANT, AND FELT AS IF HE MIGHT WALK AWAY, THAT SHE WAS NOTHING MORE THAN A CRAZY PERSON. BUT THEN THE TALK OF BABIES AROSE, OR WAS IMPLIED, AT LEAST, AND TUCKER'S FEATURES SOFTENED. HE LISTENED INTENTLY, GIVING THE OCCASIONAL NOD. HIS OWN MOTHER HAD NEVER BEEN AROUND WHEN HE WAS TINY, ONLY FOR A LITTLE GAP WHEN HE WAS ABOUT NINE OR TEN, FOR A FEW YEARS. THEN HE TOOK CARE OF PARKER FOR AWHILE, AND THEN THE DRUGS CAME ALONG. OF COURSE, THAT WASN'T ANYTHING HE BLAMED HIS MOTHER FOR, BUT ONE MIGHT GUESS THAT, HAD HIS PARENTS PAID MORE ATTENTION TO HIS LIFE, THAT THE DRUGS NEVER WOULD HAVE WALKED INTO IT.
A SLOW GRIN MADE ITS WAY ACROSS TUCKER'S FACE, HE TILTED HIS HEAD TO THE SIDE. SHE SEEMED MORE THAN WORRIED, AND BECAUSE OF THAT, MORE THAN CAPABLE. EXCEPT FOR THE MONEY PART, AND ALL. TUCKER HAD HEARD NUMEROUS TIMES ONE OF HIS COWORKERS COMPLAINING ABOUT THE PRICE OF DIAPERS. AND ABOUT HOW MUCH OF HIS SALARY WENT TO BUYING DIAPERS AND OTHER THINGS FOR HIS LITTLE GIRL. "WELL, HE SAID, SLOWLY, NOT WANTING TO ANGER HER OR ANYTHING. SHE SEEMED KIND OF STRESSED. AND THAT MIGHT HAVE BEEN AN UNDERSTATEMENT. "YOU HAVE THE WORRYING PART DOWN PAT."
HE GRINNED AND SHRUGGED; THOSE WERE THE MOST COMFORTING WORDS HE COULD THINK OF. AT HER APOLOGY, HE SHOOK HIS HEAD. IT WAS UNDERSTANDABLE, REALLY, THAT A MOTHER WOULD BE WORRIED ABOUT HER CHILD. "YOU'RE FINE." HE SAID WITH ANOTHER SHRUG, SHOVED HIS HANDS INTO THE POCKETS OF HIS JACKET. "I DON'T KNOW WHO WOULDN'T BE." THIS WAS SAID WITH A GRIN, AND IN REPLY TO HER 'FREAKING OUT' COMMENT.[/blockquote][/blockquote] STARRING : TUCKER & ALLY MARIE NORMAN WORDS : 532 STATUS : FINISHED NOTES : HOPE YOU DON'T MIND MY JOINING :] LYRICS USED : USE SOMEBODY - KINGS OF LEON BANNER CREDIT : TANA TAGGED : TANA

cause the last time you saw meis still burned in the back of your mind------------------------------ you gave me roses and i left them there to die
Ally was chewing intently on her lip, knowing in the back of her mind that she was going to make her lips sore but she didn’t care, she was too busy worrying about other more important things at the moment. God, she had gotten herself into such a mess, and she had no idea what the hell she was supposed to do! She felt like the worst mother ever, and the baby wasn’t even born yet! This was not going well at all. She saw the stranger nodding every so often and instantly felt sorry for him, god, he just came over to see if she was okay and no is stuck talking to some insane, pregnant woman! Surely not what he had planned to do today; get up, have a shower, nip to the mall, get pounced on by a psycho. Great, now she was a psycho!
The smile on his face confused her, and her confusion showed on her own face, her eyebrows furrowed, and lips pursing into a small confused pout, which morphed into a smile to match his own as he spoke, you’ve got the worrying down pat she actually laughed a little and nodded, “yeah... yeah I guess I do,” she agreed nodding, before pressing her hand to her forehead she was so sick of these stupid, good-for-nothing mood swings, “god, I’m so sorry. I blame hormones and mood swings and things, I’m not normally such a loon,” she promised a nervous smile playing at her lips before she noticed what he was wearing, well at least he wasn’t a nut- unless he was one of those ‘dirty cops’ you hear so much about. God she hoped he wasn’t one of those ‘dirty cops’. He probably wasn’t, she was just being silly. Snapping herself out of her paranoid thoughts she looked at the stranger biting her lip again.
“I don’t suppose you have any words of advice, do you?” she asked, one shoulder rising in a semi-shrug, more nerves than nonchalance, “because, I’ll take whatever I can,” she told him, rubbing her stomach, something she had picked up the past few months. The top she was wearing was rather loose and kinda covered the pregnancy quiet well, well that and the fact that she wasn’t showing very much, a small baby her doctor had told her, but the way her hand had moved her clothes emphasised the small swelling in her stomach.

Tucker had never been one to judge. Not even the druggies he sometimes picked up on the street were considered lower than him by him. He didn't think of Ally as odd because, back when Tucker had been in the whole drug scene, he had freaked out in public - laughing at nothing in particular, shouting at things that weren't there - all of the time. And somehow, scared pregnant girl freaking out somehow didn't seem quite as bad as her freaking out because she was on hallucinogens. Besides that, his teenage sister seemed to love running around in public intoxicated, so it wasn't as if he could look down on anyone else. That was just how Tucker thought, and it was hard to judge.
At Ally's comment, Tucker grinned and shook his head good-naturedly, saying, "Don't worry about it." Then he shrugged, added, "It's a big responsibility. I would be freaking out, too."
Tucker most definitely would. He could deal with all of the cop stuff, but his younger sister made him shake in his boots. Not because she was scary - although, she could be - but because it was his responsibility if anything happened to Parker while she was supposed to be being taken care of by him. Kids were a big deal like that, even if the one he was currently stuck with happened to be halfway to rehab and a halfway pathological liar. Tucker laughed nervously at the girl's next question, reached back and ruffled the brown hair on the back of his head before saying, "That's not really my area of expertise. The only real thing you should be worried about is when your kid turns into a teenager." He offered this up with a shrug, unsure of himself. He'd been manic for awhile now, and according to his doctor, the depression phase would set in soon. Maybe the guy was right; he wasn't feeling quite as on-top-of-the-world as he had a few days ago. "Oh, I'm Tucker, by the way. nice to meet you." He said abruptly, offering his hand for a shake.[/blockquote][/blockquote] STARRING : TUCKER & ALLY MARIE NORMAN WORDS : 532 STATUS : FINISHED NOTES : took me awhile! sorry! :] LYRICS USED : USE SOMEBODY - KINGS OF LEON BANNER CREDIT : TANA TAGGED : TANA
